Landscape Crew Leader

At Northern Virginia Landscaping, we build beautiful & functional outdoor living spaces for homeowners across Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax County, Prince William County, and Loudoun County. The outdoor spaces we install are project-based landscape renovations or design plans – with projects lasting from a few days to a few months. Job Description

The Landscape Crew Leader is a hands-on field leader responsible for managing a small crew of 2–3 people while completing landscape projects safely, efficiently, and with a high level of quality. This person will work outdoors every day, leads by example, communicate clearly with the team, and help ensure projects are completed on time and to company standards. This role is ideal for someone with green industry experience who enjoys leading people, solving problems
in the field, and helping build beautiful outdoor spaces. This position will report directly to the Project Manager and may occasionally interact with clients on-site.

Five Major Roles

1. Lead, manage, and hold accountable a 2–3 person landscape crew

• Set daily expectations.
• Direct the crew on site.
• Ensure the team is working efficiently and respectfully.

2. Complete landscape projects with quality and attention to detail

• Execute planting, drainage, cleanup, and related landscape work.
• Maintain pride in workmanship.
• Ensure finished work meets NVL standards.

3. Keep jobs on schedule and support smooth daily execution

• Help complete projects on time.
• Communicate field needs early.
• Adjust in the field while keeping work moving.

4. Maintain jobsite organization, communication, and accountability

• Upload photos/expenses as needed.
• Communicate clearly with management.
• Report issues, needs, or client concerns promptly.

5. Promote safety, teamwork, and a strong crew culture

• Model safe work habits.
• Treat team members respectfully.
• Help newer employees learn and improve on the job.

Requirements

• Prior experience working in landscaping or the green industry.
• Ability to lead and manage a small crew.
• Ability to work outdoors in a physical, active role.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift, move, and work with landscape materials, tools, and equipment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
• Experience driving a truck/trailer is preferred; spatial judgement and vehicle maneuverability may be tested as a part of the interview process.

Salary and Benefits

• Hourly Range: $20–25 per hour, eligible for overtime, with PTO accrual beginning after 90 days.
• Additional benefits to be discussed during the interview: Performance or sign-on bonus & opportunity for advancement as the company grows.

Additional Important Responsibilities

• Execute work according to project plans and field direction from the Project Manager.
• Lead, train, and support crew members to ensure consistent quality and efficiency.
• Represent the company professionally on client properties at all times.
• Identify and communicate opportunities to improve field efficiency and job execution.
